About 'Šola irskega plesa'

Šola irskega plesa was the idea of  Joan McIntyre, who is Irish and has been living in Slovenia for a number of years now. Joan started Irish dancing as a child, then hung up her dance shoes while she focused on a career in business.  Qualifed in Human Resources and Training, she has spent many years as a Trainer/Teacher in business/schools both here in Slovenia and in many other European countries.  Her love of dancing has brought about her return to it and the opening of  Šola irskega plesa  in Ljubljana in Jan 2005.

Starting with a 'trial' class to check the viability of such a project.  Joan was delighted, but not surprised, to discover that Slovenians have a wonderful curiosity and interest in cultures other than their own, including Irish music and dance.  This interest, together with an apparent natural ability and love of any type of dance and a desire to keep physically fit, will ensure the longevity and success of  Šola irskega plesa.

Joan maintains links with the CLRG (An Coimisiun le Rinci Gaelacha) The Irish dancing Commission, to ensure that the standards required by them for teaching Irish dance abroad are reached and maintained.  Joan continues with her own training and development as a dance teacher with a variety of Irish dance experts in Dublin, Ireland.
